Ballen bad

Top  Previous  Next

The ball pool is a random generator based on the functionality of a vase model.

You can choose from two options. One model shows a vase with colored balls. The other balls are  numbered as in a lottery or bingo machine.

The simulation procedure involves a number of steps.

1. Balls in the pool

You choose a model and fill in which balls should fill the pool.

In Color balls you give color and number.

In Number balls you fill in the numbers. More times the same number means more of the same balls.

You see the balls displayed in the pool.

2. Picking balls

You fill in:

- How the balls are to be picked.

- How many balls at a time: this is actually the size of the sample.

- How often to be simulated.

3. Simulate

First have a small number (eg 10) simulations establish whether you really obtain what you expect.

4. What do you want to know?

Often you want to view the outcome variable regarding a certain problem.

Before that you can choose form several options.

With buttons on the right below the chart you can scroll through the variables.

5. Analyze the data using the tool

The tools available are histogram, dotplot, frequency table, statistics.

For more advanced problems, you can send the dataset to the Data analysis module.

You can save the dataset and reopen it later on. Along that road you can merge several data sets with simulation results. The extension of the dataset is ...ball.
