Profiles: Adapt VUstat |
Top Previous Next |
The item Settings, accessible via In this section you can adjust VUstat to suit your students. You can turn off certain options, start the program with a certain file, connect immediately to a website, etc. All settings are saved in a profile.
Keyboard shortcut You can switch off the profile button on the main screen. You can reach the settings then only via the shortcut Ctrl-P. This is set in the tab page General.
Password A password is meant to protect the settings in a profile from unauthorized users. The password is not heavily protected, but it should be sufficient for a school environment. A password can be undone by making the input box empty. If the password is lost, every (semi-)professional knows how to solve this problem!
Tab page General From this page there are two useful file options. You can start up the item “Data analysis” with a file instead of an empty data table. This ensures that all of your students work with the same data.
You can define a path, or directory, in which to save the data files.
Tab page Data Analysis This page contains a setup option for the standard deviation, and the number of decimal places. The standard deviation can be calculated with the use of n (the number of data values) or n-1. Normally, n is used for populations and n-1 for samples.
Hide You can hide parts of the main menu. Sub-items can also be hidden. In this way it is possible to hide multi-valued variables, for example, from younger students. For them, the univariate discrete, continuous and categorical variables should be sufficient. In addition possibilities for hiding certain options, there are several other specific settings available.
