The data table

Top

The results of surveys or experiments are often called data. To handle the data in VUstat they are put in a table.

In the first row are the names of the variables, in the first column the serial numbers to identify the item in the survey, or the number of the experiment. Each column contains the values for a specific variable. The data in one row constitute a record.

An asterisk (*) in a cell indicates a missing value. In calculations, missing data are excluded.

You can activate a cell by clicking on it with the left mouse button. The cell becomes blue. With the arrow keys you can move through the rows and the columns.

At the top of the screen, next to the button bar, extra information is given about the active variable.

At the bottom of the screen, the number of records is shown.

The menu options and buttons can be used for editing and analyzing the data

If the cursor is in the first column, right click to make a particular record active. You then get a pop-up menu for entering and deleting records.

If the cursor is in a cell and you right click, then the variable in that column becomes active. You obtain a pop-up menu for the active variable.
