Aggregation

Top  Previous  Next

With this option you can view and compare summary statistical data for different subgroups from a VUstat file.

Example

You wish to compare the average (mean) height, the average age and the use of free time of the boys and girls in the sample. The aggregation variable is sex, with labels boys and girls. In the cross list you select the average (mean) of the variable height, the variable age and, from the variable freetime, the %Cat.

The aggregation variable can be any type, but the aggregate option is most suitable for label variables. The output possibilities (marked with crosses) are:

Ave

The average (mean)

Sum

The sum of the values

Freq

The number, the frequency, count

Count cat

Gives the frequency per category for a label or multiple-response variable.

% cat

gives the percentage per category for a label or multiple-response variable

By clicking at the top of the cross list you directly turn all choices in a column on or off.

After clicking on OK you obtain the results in a data table. You could make a graph directly from this table. The file can also be divided using another variable. Be careful, because the situation can be very complex!
