Often polls have questions which allow several answers. For example: ‘Which magazines do you read?’ The answer could be none, one, two, ... This type of variable is called multiple-response. For the values of this data type, you can use the letters A to Z, and a to z. There is case sensitivity. You can assign a letter to each text.
Example A Time magazine B Newsweek C Readers Digest D … A multiple-response code AC indicates that Time Magazine and Reader’s Digest are read.
Transformation to and from multiple-response: In the menu Options > Multiple-response you will find the possibility to - transform a multiple-response variable to yes-no label variables e.g. to show whether someone reads Newsweek - transform several variables to one multiple-response variable e.g. to show whether someone reads news, fashion, etc. magazines. |
