Dataplot is a small statistical environment for producing presentations. Here you can make attractive graphs of statistical data. In Dataplot frequency tables are usually a good starting point. This option is therefore particularly suitable for the younger students and for students of other subjects who wish to use statistical methods. You can choose between three types of graph: bar charts, pie charts and line diagrams. These may all be twoo or three-dimensional.
The entry of data can be done in several ways: simply by typing, importing from the Data analysis module of VUstat, or importing an ASCII file.
After clicking on the appropriate button for the kind of graph you want, you will see your graph in a window. There is also the edit button, which opens up lots of possibilities for modifying the graph.
The data, ordered in rows and columns, can be edited in the table.
Menu and buttons Data With this option there are the same possibilities with a right click with the mouse in the data table: sorting and deleting records.
Graphs There are three types of graphs, and you can change from one to the other with the Edit button.
Options Descriptive statistics The mean and standard deviation are calculated. Because Dataplot works mainly with frequency tables you have to specify which variable contains the values and which variable contains the frequencies. If the table consists of intervals you have to enter the class centers. Name is convenient if several people use the same printer, because it puts your name on the print out. ASCII data files can be imported with Import. Export allows you to export data as an ASCII-file so that it can be used in other programs. Autofit automatically adapts all the column widths to the data in the columns, including the name of the column.
